Opal Pool, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Opal Pool, Yellowstone National Park is a hot spring in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Located in the Midway Geyser Basin, it is considered a fountain-style geyser which occasionally erupts. Its first recorded eruption was in 1947, and subsequent eruptions have occurred in 1949, 1952 and 1953. It stopped until 1979, after which it has been erupting at least once every year.

The eruptions of Opal Pool reaches a height of around 30 feet (9.1 meters) although some of its tallest eruptions have reached 80 feet (24 meters). Eruptions of Opal Pool are usually unpredictable, though there are visible signs of convection in the pool just before it does.
