Diwan-i-Khas, at Red Fort, Delhi (10 November, 2004)

The
Diwan-i-Khas, or
Hall of Private Audience, is where the emperor conducted matters of the state. This is where he met his ministers and noblemen. The centrepiece of the Diwan-i-Khas was the legendary Peacock Throne, one of Shah Jahan's seven jewelled thrones. Unfortunately it was carried away by Nadir Shah to Iran in 1739.
