Kedai Kopi Goh Chew, New Lane (11 May 2013)


Kedai Kopi Goh Chew is one of the coffee shops along New Lane, in George Town, Penang. It occupies two double-storey terrace houses which were converted from residential to commercial use.

There are a number of stalls at this coffee shop. My wife liked the fish bee hoon here, until it raised its price to RM6.00. We also noticed that there is a new cook, and at the last minute, my wife decided not to try the bee hoon with the new cook. We haven't eaten here since the price went up. I think she is still in a boycott mode over the price increase. I like the stall selling Hokkien char, yee foo mee and Sar Hor Fun. The vendor also operates a similar stall at the Bayan Baru Hawker Centre. Other stalls at Kedai Kopi Goh Chew include the Lor Bak stall, the fried oyster and the chicken rice.

Getting there

You can take a bus to Macalister Road and walk to New Lane from there. Alight at the bus stop in front of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Rapid Penang bus 10 passes through here. From the junction with Macalister Road, you will reach Kedai Kopi Goh Chew on your right.
