Masjid Mukim Kongsi (29 January 2005)


Masjid Mukim Kongsi (GPS: 5.34847, 100.23216), or by its official name Masjid At-Taqwa, is the old mosque of Balik Pulau. It is located within the district of Kongsi, which includes the Balik Pulau town centre.

I have photographed Masjid Mukim Kongsi a few times, because I find it to be a very charming mosque built many years ago, before mosques became larger but less endearing. Further down the same road are two more mosques, both bigger than this charming structure.

Getting there

There is a bus stop near Masjid Mukim Kongsi, along Jalan Balik Pulau. It is served by Rapid Penang bus 401, 401E and 502.
