Kuala Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau (16 February 2013)
Kuala Sungai Pinang is a small Chinese fishing village on the west side of Penang Island. It is the estuary of the Sungai Pinang of Balik Pulau. The road leading into the village is also called Kuala Sungai Pinang. Most of its inhabitants make a living from fishing. It is very much a place where time stood still, as it has still to catch up with the rest of Penang in terms of development.
This being a Chinese fishing village, the pekan or village centre has more than the fair share of coffee shops, catering to the local needs of the fishermen, who often relax over coffee, when they are not out to sea.

Getting there
To reach Kuala Sungai Pinang, take the Rapid Penang bus 404 which runs between Balik Pulau Town, Kuala Sungai Pinang and Pantai Acheh.What to see or do there
Kuala Sungai Pinang is a Chinese fishing village that is still very much untouched by development. There isn't anything of tourist value here, except that it is a place to experience how a small fishing village it like.
