Sungai Burong, Balik Pulau, Penang

Sungai Burong scenerySungai Burong scenery (4 May 2015)

Sungai Burong, often spelled Sungai Burung, is a small stream the runs from the hills of Balik Pulau to the Straits of Malacca on the west coast. It passes through the paddy fields, where it has been canalised, with a bund beside it. The road laid on over the bund is known as Jalan Sungai Burung.

A Malay settlement has formed around Sungai Burong. It is also called Sungai Burong, although to differentiate between the two, the village is often called Kampung Sungai Burung.
