Tamil Street (16 July 2008)

Tamil Street, or Lebuh Tamil, is a short street in the inner city of George Town, Penang. It runs from Penang Road to Kuala Kangsar Road, and is one of the streets which was an enclave for the Tamils who operated a market.

Until the middle part of the 20th century, the area has been predominantly South Asian in character, hence the name of the next road being Chowrasta Road, and the market named Chowrasta Market.
