Lebuh Union in George Town, Penang (14 November 2012)
Union Street, or Lebuh Union, is a minor road in the central business district of George Town. The street was carved out in the early part of the 19th century and named to commemorate the Act of Union (1800) which created the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in 1801.
Union Street borders on a parcel of land which was used as the Central Police Station of George Town. Today the police station still exists, albeit reduced in area.
