Woodville includes a tower with a dome, placed to resemble the dome on the former
Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank building at
Downing Street. The mansion is essentially ecletic in design, taking elements from various styles and fusing them together.
Lim Lean Teng was a wealthy Teochew in the early 20th century Penang. He served as one of the most illustrious presidents of the Teochew Association and was instrumental in establishing Han Chiang High School. Among his properties in Penang included
Lim Lean Teng Mansions.
Lim Lean Teng Road was named after him.
