Nattukkottai Chettiars Temple, Muar (11 September, 2016)
Nattukkottai Chettiars Temple (GPS: 2.04502, 102.56556) is the main Hindu temple in Muar, Johor. It occupies a whole city block, with the main entrance at Jalan Meriam. The official name of the temple is Sri Thandayuthapani (Tamil: ஸ்ரீ தாண்டாயுதாபணி).
The main feature of the Nattukkottai Chettiars Temple is its five-tier rajagopuram or temple tower, which serves as the gateway tower into the temple. The rajagopuram is ornately embellished with multi-coloured figurines congruent to the South Indian style of Hindu temple architecture. The temple tower faces a spacious outer court which is tiled.
