Temurun Waterfall, Langkawi (5 June, 2005)


Temurun Waterfall (GPS: 6.43398, 99.70823) is a 50-meter fall that cascades down the northern slope of Gunung Machincang, into Datai Bay. Located close by on the same road is the artificial Langkawi Waterfall.

To reach the Temurun Waterfall, one has to make a short trip into the verdant jungle. There are forest sheds for you to stop and rest, though the journey from the parking area isn't that far. As you approach Temurun Waterfall, you can see it behind tall forest trees. The waterfall comes down a steep cliff on the side of Gunung Machincang. At the foot of the cliff is a lovely emerald pool. At the time of my visit, the amount of water was not that much. There is a stream that runs from the pool, but it was almost devoid of any water. I suppose it would be a different picture during raining season.
