Merdeka Square fountain (8 February 2006)
The Merdeka Square Fountain is located on the side of Dataran Merdeka, the Kuala Lumpur Independence Square. There are in fact two fountains on Dataran Merdeka.

The fountain of Dataran Merdeka was imported from England and assembled in 1897. It was originally erected at Market Square, but was moved upon objection from the police as it obstructed the flow of traffic. The new location for it was on the corner of the Parade Ground, the former name of the Dataran Merdeka.
