St John's Institution (GPS: 3.151, 101.70019), nowadays known as Sekolah Menengah St John, is one of the premier schools in Kuala Lumpur. Established on 18 January, 1904, it is also one of the oldest schools in the city. St John's Institution is located on Jalan Bukit Nanas, a short distance from St John's Primary School down the road, and Convent Bukit Nanas up the road. Students of the school are called the Johannians.

St John's Institution is largely a boys school. With the exception of co-educational classes for Form Six, it is exclusively for boys from Forms 1 - 5. The school was founded by Catholic missionaries of De La Salle Christian Brothers Order, named after their patron saint, Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, regarded as the Patron Saint of Teachers. The school sits on a large tract of land owned by the Roman Catholic Church which extends on both sides of Bukit Nanas, and includes the St John's Cathedral and subsidiary organisations.

The school building of St John's Institution was built in 1907. It was gazetted a National Heritage Site on 21 May, 2010.
