Hamilton Road, Singapore

Hamilton Road, SingaporeHamilton Road, Singapore (26 July 2017)

Hamilton Road is a minor road in the Lavender subzone of Kallang, Singapore. It is today a one-way road. Traffic enters Hamilton Road from Lavender Street, and exits at Horne Road.

According to Singapore Street Names1, Hamilton Road is yet another road in the Lavender neighbourhood that was named after one of the World War I generals, in this case it was Sir Ian Standish Hamilton, the British general who led the Gallipoli expedition. However, there is also a possibility that the road was named after one Walter & Hamilton, a partner of Hamilton, Gray & Company at Battery Road. There is also a Hamilton Road in Penang, but that road was named after a headmaster of the Penang Free School.
