Epping Tube Station
The Epping Tube Station dates to 1856, when it opened for the Eastern Counties Railway. It was planned for the Central Line since 1938, but services only started in 1949, interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War. The section from Epping to Ongar was electrified in 1957 for the Central Line, but the trains do not continue all the way there. Passengers wishing to travel beyond Epping have to change platform.
There is also a plan to make Epping Tube Station a stop for the proposed London Underground Chelsea-Hackney Line. If this proposal materializes, the Chelsea-Hackney Line will take over from the Central Line from the Leytonstone Tube Station onwards to Epping.
